The Kahnawake Mixed Softball League (KMSL) finals are underway this week, with a rematch from last year’s finals to determine who will have their name on the trophy this year.
The Rezbirds are trying to win their second title in a row, their fourth in seven years, while the Boyz are hoping to avoid being swept in the best-of-three series in back-to-back seasons.
Game one was played Wednesday night, with the Rezbirds continuing their undefeated season by winning the opening contest 19-12.
Game two was played on Thursday night, after The Eastern Door’s publishing deadline. If the Boyz managed to even the series, the last game of the series will be played on September 3 at 7 p.m. at the Hospital Field.
The Rezbirds finished first overall in the regular season standings, going a perfect 12-0.
The Boyz finished second with an 8-8 record. Due to scheduling conflicts, not all teams played the same amount of regular season games.
Both teams managed two game sweeps of their respective semifinals opponents, as the Rezbirds defeated the Demons and the Boyz bested the Yankees last week.
