A Mohawk Council of Kanesatake (MCK) employee suffered a workplace-related accident on March 17, the MCK announced.
“All operations related to the accident have been paused until further notice, and the required safety regulatory procedures were followed to formally declare the incident,” said a press release signed by MCK caretaker council member Brant Etienne.
The identity of the individual involved in the accident has not been publicly disclosed, nor was the condition of the worker revealed.
“It is too early to make definitive statements or to provide a detailed assessment of what happened,” said Etienne in the press release.
“A formal investigation will be conducted to clarify the circumstances and to ensure that safety measures are reviewed and reinforced, for safer staff and operations moving forward.”
The MCK will provide updates on this incident once more information is available, according to the release.
No further details were provided.
The MCK Human Resources department did not respond to a request for comment.
