Suspect charged in homicide

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged homicide after a body was found in a hole at The Brothers last month, shocking the community.

According to a Surete du Quebec (SQ) press release, Bryin Canadian Whitebean, 18 years old, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. The next day, he was charged with first-degree murder.

According to the press release, a homicide occurred in Kanesatake on May 28.

In the days after the body was recovered from the site of the old Sulpician school, the SQ declined to confirm whether the man had been murdered, calling it a suspicious death pending results of an autopsy.

The victim was 24-year-old Ronnie Daniel Beltre Gonzalez of Valleyfield.

The discovery of the man’s body had been reported to Kanesatake Perimeter Security (KPS) by a community member. After responding to the call, KPS contacted emergency services and secured the scene.
