No suspects or vehicles are currently in sight after gun shots were fired at a home in Kanesatake earlier this week, according to the Surete du Quebec (SQ).

No one was injured, said SQ spokesperson Marc Tessier.

Around 10 p.m. on May 3, multiple shots were fired at a home around the area of 1261 Rang Ste. Philomene, according to Kane Montour, coordinator of the Kanesatake Perimeter Security (KPS) team.

A neighbour of the house that was shot called the KPS to report the incident, and upon arrival Montour saw what looked like evidence of four gunshots on the home near the door, including one shot that appears to have travelled through the front door and into a back wall of the house.

The tenants who live in the home said they did not require an ambulance, according to Montour.

The KPS called emergency services, which began investigating the property, he added. Forensic identification technicians came to Kanesatake to analyze the scene on May 4.

An ongoing investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the gun shots, said Tessier.

This incident follows a shooting last month on April 1. No one was shot in that case, but two suspects were arrested by the SQ over the incident.
