Hospital board seeks community reps

There are two spots opening up on the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC) Board of Directors, with a call for nominations going out this week.

Nominations for Kahnawa’kehró:non who are interested in serving as a community representative on the board can be submitted on Wednesday, May 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the main lobby of the KMHC.

Nominees must be nominated and seconded by two people who are listed on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry (KKR), as well as be on the KKR themselves. Additionally, nominees must be at least 21 years old and a user of KMHC services for at least two years to be eligible to serve on the board.

In the event there are more than two nominees, an election will be held on Wednesday, June 17.

Last year, the KMHC Board of Directors announced a change to term lengths, deciding that Wendy Skye and Kim Martin’s mandates would be extended to June 2026.

Those who join the Board of Directors in the current round of nominations will embark upon three-year terms.
