Two minors were arrested on Tuesday morning in Kanesatake and could face charges of armed assault, according to the Surete du Quebec (SQ).
The two suspects allegedly pepper-sprayed a security guard, according to SQ spokesperson Marc Tessier. The guard, who is local, was reported to have been affected by the spray but uninjured.
Kane Montour, coordinator of the Kanesatake Perimeter Security (KPS), said he received a call for help from the security guard who had been pepper sprayed at a local business late Monday night.
The alleged assault occurred at 473 Rang Ste. Philomene, according to the SQ. Montour said the assault occurred at the parking lot of the Triple 7 Casino.
After the incident, the two suspects fled on foot, said Montour. The KPS began a search for the suspects using night vision tactical equipment and located them about an hour after the incident behind another local dispensary.
The suspects had been apprehended by security guards at a business located at 443 St. Michel, according to the SQ, which is the address of The Green Room. It was the security guards at the business who called the SQ to the scene.
Tessier confirmed that both suspects were arrested at the scene and were subsequently released with a promise to appear in court. They will appear in youth court at the St. Jerome courthouse at a later date.
This investigation is ongoing.
