Police operations target weapons trafficking

Five arrests have been made following a series of police raids stemming from investigations into organized crime and the trafficking of illegal weapons in Kahnawake and Montreal.
The Kahnawake Peacekeepers, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM), and the Equipe integree de lutte au traffic d’armes (EILTA) have been collaborating on these operations, which begun as part of an investigation launched by the SPVM’s Northern Projects Investigation Unit in May 2025.
According to a press release by the Kahnawake Peacekeepers, five firearms had already been seized beforeEILTA began collaborating with the SPVM in February 2026. EILTA’s mandate is to perform investigations that target firearm supply chains on a large scale, aggs well as trafficking across international borders.
This week, the SPVM and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers performed raids following these investigations.
According to the press release, field operations by the SPVM resulted in the arrests of Gaven Mayo and Georges Michael Latimer-Nolan on May 20; seven firearms were also seized.
The following day, the Peacekeepers and EILTA conducted operations in the community that led to the arrest of three people as well as the seizure of three firearms - one of which was prohibited - as well as “prohibited devices” and a replica firearm.
The identity of the two local males and the local female who were arrested the day after the first were not released by the Peacekeepers at time of writing. They are expected to appear in court for firearm charges in Montreal.
