Closures on Mercier
Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) announced that access ramps located in Kahnawake to get on and off the Mercier Bridge are scheduled to be closed starting tonight (Friday) at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.
The two ramps affected - the ramp towards Montreal from Chateauguay and the one towards La Prairie from Montreal - will have some of their joints and barriers repaired during the closure.
To go towards Montreal, drivers will have to take an alternate route via the Old Malone Highway that will lead onto the bridge via one lane of the La Prairie-bound ramp. Getting off the bridge, drivers will be forced to go onto Blind Ladies Hill towards Chateauguay.
Heavy slowdowns and traffic are expected throughout the course of the weekend because of the work, and the JCCBI said that work could be cancelled or postponed depending on weather conditions or other factors.
