A fire was reported last Friday at a Kanesatake home where a shooting took place a week earlier.
Emergency services were alerted shortly before 11 a.m. on December 12. The structure was saved, but an investigation is ongoing, with the incident being treated as a suspected arson.
“Regarding whether this is related to other cases in the area: It is too early in the investigation to determine if the events are connected. The investigation will attempt to determine this,” said Surete du Quebec (SQ) spokesperson Marc Tessier.
As reported in last week’s edition of The Eastern Door, the man who was shot on December 5 is Normand Theoret, whom authorities said was in stable condition following the attack.
The fire at the residence was extinguished by the Oka fire department with assistance from St. Placide and Pointe Calumet.
