Following two exciting home wins, the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters are just one win away from making it to the East finals of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL), in just the program’s second year of existence.

Having swept the Akwesasne Lightning in the first round of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL) playoffs, the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters are now officially on the longest playoff run of their short history.

Going into the last weekend of the regular season, the Kahnawake Junior B Hunters can finish no lower than seventh in the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) East division standings, meaning they will get a chance to defend their league title and qualify for the Founders Cup.

It doesn’t happen often that you drop in the standings after a win, but that is where the Kahnawake Junior B Hunters find themselves after returning from their week off with a 13-3 win over the Gloucester Griffins on Wednesday.

With an 8-5 record, just six points separate the second-place Kahnawake Hunters from the ninth-place team in the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) Eastern Conference, while the Akwesasne Thunder currently hold the top spot with a 14-0 record.

The Kahnawake Junior C Hunters went 1-2 over the weekend, with a 9-3 win against the Gloucester Griffins on Saturday breaking up losses to the Cornwall Celtics (12-6) and Nepean Knights (8-7 in overtime).

Last year, it took four games for the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters to get their first-ever regular season win to start their inaugural season. 

The Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL) end-of-season awards saw the entire coaching staff honoured, while three players were nominated for awards.

Kanehsata’kehró:non laxer Logan Gabriel was named one of three Eastern division rookies of the year in the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL) for his accomplishments with the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters this season, the team’s first ever.

In their first season of play, the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters are off to the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL) playoffs, winning Wednesday’s play-in game convincingly against the Akwesasne Lightning 15-4 at the Sports Complex.
