In case of emergency, break glass

The participants of the Junior Fire Brigade got the opportunity to get a little destructive this week when it came to learning about vehicle extrication and the tools used in emergency situations.
“Each day for two weeks, we were teaching the kids different skills about firefighting,” said firefighter Brandon Chuby. “This morning, we went over a little bit of theory, talking about different types of vehicles and what we do in case of accidents and if we have cases of entrapment.”
After being properly educated on the tools and the appropriate techniques on how to use them, the students gathered at Goodleaf’s Auto and Recycling, where they got to suit up and smash their way through some of the cars – all under the safety and supervision of the Kahnawake Fire Brigade.
