A’nó:wara Dance Theatre is making strides in putting together its new production, I Dream in Wampum, a science fiction show inspired by Kanien’kehá:ka culture.
The team, led by Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo, wrapped up their first artist residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in December, a component of the prestigious Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award won by Diabo last summer.
“The dance studios are surrounded by mountains and snow – what a beautiful place to create,” Diabo said. “The Banff Centre provided us with exceptional support and all the resources necessary to live and work there while bringing our vision to life.”
Diabo and her dancers will return to Banff in April, where they perform the final version of the show at the Banff Centre’s theatre.
