Burger King of the Ring crowned at K-Town

Inter Species Wrestling (ISW) made its return to Kahnawake as part of the K-Town Collectables Expo - and ultimately, some of the collectables made their way into the matches, too.

The main event on the card, the finals of the Burger King of the Ring tournament, saw Matt Viviani claim the crown, cape, sceptre, and Burger King gift card by defeating Bobby Orlando.

The match saw the two brawl throughout the convention floor, using a candle, action figures, a Nerf gun, and lightsabers as part of the match.

“I’m a very unique individual, so I’m all about those unique fights. So, this is right up my alley. Believe it or not, it wasn’t that much more chaotic than my normal matches,” said Orlando, whose high energy persona and sidekick, the goat Bobby Jr., made him appreciated by the local crowd.

Viviani, definitely the villain of the tournament, did not see that same appreciation. Following his win, he continued to pester the crowd, particularly the children in the front row that he had been arguing with all throughout the day.

At the request of one of the children, the ring announcer - Santa Claus - gave Viviani a stunner to send everyone home happy at the end of the expo.

That’s not too out of the ordinary for an ISW show, where you can see some technical duels, Lego deathmatches, and lots of out of the ordinary wrestlers on the same card.

Case in point, along with Viviani and Orlando, the tournament included Harry Wolfman - a newspaper-obsessed werewolf; CPA - an accountant who wears back-up ties and shirts to use in his matches; and Giant Tiger - who wrestles in a tiger mask and a Hawaiian shirt.

As per usual at an ISW show at K-Town, the kids in the crowd were a big part of the show, with many matches including “participation” from them by giving chops to some wrestlers while their opponent incapacitated them.

“That’s part of the reason why you do it, you want to create that magic for these guys when they come out here,” said Orlando.

“When I was a kid, and I saw these guys in the ring, they were larger than life, and it just caught my eye, and it inspired me to not only chase my dreams of being a wrestler, but just chase my dreams in general. If I can inspire at least one kid today, it means I did a job well done.”

There were two other matches apart from the tournament.

ISDub x NOW Unified Deathmatch Champion “Mad Lad” Thomas Leduc defeated Sexxxy Eddy in a match that featured no blood, but did feature a lot of Lego pieces on which the wrestlers fell.

Local wrestler Kyle Zachary, the “Daddest Bod on the Planet,” defeated “Trainwreck” Alvin Turner in their third pool party-themed match, which featured a lot of interference, ample pool noodle and pool floatie strikes, and an impromptu playing of “Freebird” on inflatable guitars.

“Lucky enough, I came up with the win, and I hope everybody left the building happy today,” said Zachary.
