For the first time since 2022, the Kanesatake Health Center (KHC) will hold its Annual General Assembly (AGA) next Wednesday. There are four Board of Directors seats up for grabs at the session, where a vote will be held to choose between the registered candidates.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) has countersued the former head of Mohawk Online, accusing him of defamation and breach of contract for statements he made to The Eastern Door outlining the demise of the community’s internet gaming arm.  According to the MCK’s filing, former Mohawk Online CEO Dean Montour was warned by Council on June 25 not to disclose any confidential information about the community-owned entity, of which MCK is the sole shareholder.

On Monday, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) informed the community that it could not move forward with new housing initiatives to tackle the ongoing housing crisis because of a large, ever-growing unpaid rent debt in social housing.

The former executive director of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada, Kanesatake’s Kimberly Murray, has been chosen to lead an investigation at the former Mohawk Institute residential school.
