Since she was young, Olympic water polo player Waneek Horn-Miller has looked up to fellow Indigenous athletes and leaders. Amongst them are Alex Nelson and Angela Chalmers, two individuals who have pioneered inclusion in sports and led the way for others, like Horn-Miller, to follow in their footsteps.

The Kahnawake Mohawks Minor Lacrosse Association (KMMLA) has three new board members following a general assembly held Monday.  They include Greg Horn, who’ll be rejoining the board as vice president, as well as Jay Goodleaf and Chris Bush, who now sit on its volunteer subcommittee.

Kahnawa’kehró:non Poppy Diabo is gearing up for nationals with her Onondaga Community College women’s soccer team after they defeated their opponent 4-0 last weekend.  Just before halftime, the freshman at the college in Syracuse, New York, assisted in her teammate Justine Borte scoring the team’s second goal.  “The day of our last game felt unreal,” said Diabo, who studies early childhood education at the college.

Mohawk Council of Kanesatake grand chief Victor Bonspille did a good job in a so-called press release this week, signed by only him (there’s a pattern here), by making himself look vindictive, taking it to a personal level.

Valosphere, a soil transporter that was caught dumping illegally on Route 207 last week, was previously implicated in illegal dumping in Kahnawake in March.
