The Orangeville Junior A Northmen are up 2-1 in their seven-game finals series of the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) against the Whitby Warriors.
Both Northmen victories in the series have come in overtime, winning 7-6 in game one on August 1 and 9-8 in game three on August 6. Whitby won game two 10-5 on August 4.
Kahnawake’s Trey Deere has been a big factor on offense for the Northmen, contributing 13 points in the first three games of the finals - five goals and eight assists.
His point production has come in the clutch, too. In game one, he assisted on the game-tying goal by Liam Matthews that sent the game to overtime.
In game three, he was the one to score the tying goal with just over a minute left in the game, before assisting on Max Krueger’s overtime winner.
Game four will be tonight, Friday, at 8 p.m. in Whitby, and game five will be on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Orangeville.
If necessary, game six will be Monday, August 11, at 8 p.m. in Whitby and game seven will be the following night in Orangeville, also at 8 p.m.
