This is a season of firsts for the Kahnawake Junior C Hunters, and after five games, they can finally cross out “first win” on the checklist, taking down the Cornwall Celtics 11-7 on Wednesday night.

Tehorahkwaneken Albany scored four times, Logan Gabriel and Jackson Norton had hat-tricks, and Dash Diabo added two goals of his own to propel the Hunters to victory.

In their other game of the week, they suffered a 15-4 loss in the second game of their home and home with the North Shore Kodiaks on May 17.

They’ll hope to keep their winning ways going on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kahnawake Sports Complex against the Junior C Nepean Knights.

The Junior B Hunters also had a good week, winning both their home games over the weekend. They never trailed in either game, a 14-6 win against the Barrie Bombers on Saturday and 12-9 win over the Clarington Green Gaels the following day. Leading goal scorers Deeland Martin and Shakononhkwahtsheronniennis Rice - with 15 goals each - and the rest of the team will have faced the undefeated Nepean Knights on Thursday night at the Sports Complex after The Eastern Door’s publishing deadline, before staying at home to face the Halton Hills Bulldogs at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
