Deere, Northmen make Minto finals

For the second straight year, the Orangeville Junior A Northmen and the Coquitlam Junior A Adanacs will be battling for the Minto Cup, this time in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The Northmen went 2-1 during the round robin portion of the Minto Cup tournament, defeating the Adanacs 12-5 and the Calgary Raiders 6-3, before losing the final game 14-12 in overtime against the host Athletics.
That was good enough to clinch first place overall, giving them a bye to the finals.
The Adanacs and Athletics faced off for the finals spot in a winner-take-all game on Tuesday, a game which the Adanacs won 14-11.
In the three round robin games, Kahnawa’kehró:non Trey Deere had seven goals and five assists for 12 points, third best on the Northmen.
The first game of their three-game series was Thursday at 7:30 p.m. after The
Eastern
Door’s publishing deadline.
Game two is tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. If necessary, game three is Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
