Slamming into the holiday season

Inter Species Wrestling (ISW) returned to Kahnawake on Sunday as part of this year’s second K-Town Collectibles Expo, with Die Hard Is a Christmas Movie, a seven-match card that had something for everyone.

The show at the Mohawk Super Bingo, which was free with attendance to the Expo, featured ISW’s bread and butter: technically sound matches, including two successful title defenses by ISW Undisputed King of Crazy “Hotstepper” Macrae Martin over “The Rascal King” Tyler Nox and by ISW Falls Count Anywhere Champion “Sultan of Submission” Haddy over Dante Dubois.

The sillier side of wrestling is another hallmark of ISW, with The Grinch and his entourage of masked men being thwarted in their attempts to ruin the Holiday Spirit by Santa, an elf, a reindeer, and a hot-dog salesman in an ugly sweater, and crowd brawling where kids were encouraged to chop a wrestler’s chest.

Michael Woods, ISW’s promoter, is a big fan of running these shows at K-Town, and this one went about as well as it could have.

“I thought it was a blast. It was perfect. This is how our shows should run. Everybody seemed very happy, and the children loved hitting people excessively,” said Woods, who also acted as commentator and ring announcer for the show.

The kids mostly did small slaps to the chest of Sexxxy Eddy, the wrestler on the receiving end of the child-inflicted violence, except for one that reverberated across the convention floor.

“I saw a child hit a chop that was so loud, I was so shocked. I said ‘wait, that wasn’t one of the dudes who hit that?’ It was awesome,” said Woods.

The kids also loved Santa and his helpers beating The Grinch to save Christmas, as expected.

“That’s why Christmas shows are awesome. It’s not even Christmas, it’s the month before Christmas, but we made it work,” said Woods.

Another match on the card was the grudge match between Kahnawake’s own Kyle Zachary and Tommy Boy Leduc, after the latter turned on Zachary and broke up the Dad Bod Squad for good.

After threatening to walk out of the match on several occasions, Leduc finally took his ball and went home, walking through the convention hall and out the door to lose by count out.

“I gained a bit of revenge on Tommy Boy Leduc, but not as much as I would have wanted to,” said Zachary.

“I’m not done with him. This rivalry isn’t done until I say it’s done, and I want another match with him, but this time I want a match that he can’t run away from.”

What that looks like and when it will be is still up in the air, but regardless, Zachary was happy that the fans had a good time at the show.

Die Hard Is a Christmas Movie was ISW’s last show of the year, but Woods said they will be back with more to offer fans in 2026, including at K-Town.
