You are in the minority if you are not one of those decked out head-to-toe in costume at Montreal’s Comiccon, which draws the fantastically inclined from across the region and beyond every year. (Tehosterihens Deer, The Eastern Door)

Montreal Comiccon at the Palais de Congres brought over 60,000 people (see geeks, nerds and regular folk) to its halls to start the month.
The convention started July 6 and ended July 8. During that time, comic book fanatics, cosplayers, and video gamers had a chance to explore everything their dreams desired.
Many artists were there to showcase some of the amazing work and to get a chance to sell to customers. Artists offered their signatures and handed out business cards to buyers who were intrigued by their artwork.
The event had four sections: an art gallery section, comic books and other necessities, featured guests, and a video game section.
The convention also held QnA panels for fans, some were free, while some had to be paid for. The featured celebrities were Chuck Norris, Jason Mamoa, Danny Trejo, David Duchovny, Pamela Anderson, and many more.

Fans were able to get an autograph, a selfie or a professional photo in the Comiccon photo ops, ranging from $50-$140 for a single autograph.
The majority of Kahnawake came to see one man – Jason Mamoa.
Mamoa is well known for his roles in Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo, and as Aquaman in the Justice League movie. The Hawaiian mammoth charged over $100 for an autograph and many fans paid the price.
The main event for this year was the X-files. The hit TV show made its way to Comiccon as three of the main cast were there to meet fans and host The X-files special event, The Truth is Here.
David Duchovny, Mitch Pileggi, and William B Davis were all able to answer questions in the panel and meet fans at their booth.
Comics were not the only thing sold, as they had rare film memorabilia, film/gaming posters, video games, action figures, and tons of pop culture clothes/costumes.
Gaming fanatics were able to try the beta for Call of Duty Black Ops IV, and Spiderman. Both games are expected to come out in the fall.
The convention also held some of the best costumes as a majority of them were out of this world. Convention-goers dressed as Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th series, as elves and Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings, while others dressed as Marvel characters ranging from a working Iron Man suit, to the villain Red Skull, with countless prosthetics and makeup.
The Iron Man suit can’t fly but he was able to move and put his helmet on and off. The suit even came with a functioning AI that followed his commands.
The best part of Montreal Comiccon is the food. The convention serves basic pizza, fries, and all that, but that’s not the best part. The best part is Chinatown.
The most popular place to eat is a two-minute walk from the convention and is called Shanghai restaurant.
The organizers planned the event well and picked a good spot considering Chinatown is only seconds away by foot.
The hall also had Montreal Canadians’ players come to the convention and sign some autographs and meet fans. Hockey fans were able to get a glimpse of either Tomas Plekanec or Nikita Scherbak.
The convention is always a summer highlight for all and many are excited for next year’s 11th edition.
